Hi, I'm new to this and I'm confused. In you tube people hunting rolls hold 2002 and after and some 2001 because what the Red Book says. What is right.

Thank you

2001 was the last year that Kennedys were minted for circulation. Beginning in 2002 only mint sets contained the business strikes.

Officially they were minted for circulation, but I believe their low distribution makes them feel like NIFC and this led to them being minted as such the following year.

Bags and rolls can be ordered as well.

That said they likely did mint some last year for circulation as the P and D mintage was over 10 million which is more than double what it usually is

Basebal21, right about the bags and rolls.

Also the 2013 mintage was just shy of 10 million (9.6 million) after 5 straight years of under 4 million. Then they went 4 more years of 4 to 5 million (2014 through 2017) until 2018 when they went up to over 10 million like you said.

It would be interesting to find out what caused the spikes in production for those years.

I'm struggling to think of anything but commerce. It's just to big a jump with no known special big money variety or anything to be a numismatic order increase.

My first guess was casinos since that's basically what they all use for a half dollar chip, which if that was the case I would classify that as a circulation issue
