Here's an interesting one that I'm looking for some help with.

My inclination is MD based on the appearance of the MM and of the 1941. However, the MM clearly has three levels of doubling (2 plus the MM), so it would be double MD? Is that a thing? The date, though, only has 2 levels.

If it's MD how do we explain the difference in the number of levels of doubling?

Thanks for your time,

H

Not disagreeing with you, but still wondering how we get three levels of doubling on the MM and only two on the date?

You have the fields, the Machine Doubling caused after the strike and the top of the normal devices. When you see this on the date and the mintmark, it is always Machine Doubling. Just a Wheat cent. No variety.
