The description along with the photograph sums it up pretty accurately. I feel that despite a past cleaning the overall eye appeal is consistent with the others I've acquired for the series thus far. My only concern is the funny looking date, particularly the "3". But checking it against two PCGS grades it seems normal. Who knows, maybe the date puncher was a liquid lunch kinda guy. So as always, I welcome the comments.

I don't foresee many more I need within the fifty dollar range, this one at $40, that I'm lacking. Which was the goal from the beginning. Now a step up to the $100 range, which seems to be where those in the 1840's run within this grade/condition. Key and semi-key dates excluded. In the end I feel a complete set (minus that single 1873 no arrows cc), including the rare cc mints, should be doable for 20-25 thousand. No short term task.

I think as an XF Details piece it's a good buy. My guess is a strong hit as there is metal displacement on the base of the petestal.

Obviously cleaned coins are never a good buy at almost any price. No? Wait until you try to resell it.

^^Eh frog's got a point. The only time I disagree with that statment is when dealing with rare (R6+) die marriages. At that point it doesn't matter as much.

Believe the slightly blurry pictures are hiding significant scratches on the obverse portrait and fields.

I'd pass on this one and wait for one without problems. Because you're not in a hurry, you can wait for one you like to come along.
In addition to Coinfrog's well-taken points, there is a pretty decent chance you will regret purchasing a cleaned coin in the future. I find most cleaned coins dull and lifeless compared to uncleaned specimens.
