I agree that it was cleaned and that it is a VF30.

I disagree that it has been cleaned. I think the difference in color is due to the poor eye appeal and gunk on the surface. There are no surface striations of any kind. You must also keep in mind lower quality planchets produced odd colored coins.

A bit of obverse corrosion too. Still an ok look for a 176 year old copper.

It may be cleaned for all I know. But if it was dipped the reverse would show it too....
