Can someone (or more) provide me with a link which provides realistic values of world coins? Numista is obviously not accurate in the least.

Is there one or two sites which you professional dealers use for pricing?

Not having confidence in coin values makes having a reasonably fair swap difficult.

The only place I have found is NGC world coins price guide. Don't know what the link is off the top of my head but you should find it by googling that.

I am not a "professional dealer," but when I am deciding whether to buy, or how to set a selling price, here is what I do:
- For common world coins I use ebay sold items search.

- For scarcer coins, I use auction clearinghouse sites like CoinArchives. Some auction houses (Heritage, CNG, etc.) also maintain databases of their sales, often accessible for free.

These are current. As best I can tell, NGC is not.

Price guides only hold water in the world of US coins, and maybe UK, Australia, and Canada as well. World markets are far too fickle and get worse as the coins in question get more obscure.

I use NGC to get a very basic idea, but most prices are inaccurate - Usually too high, sometimes too low.

Which is basically the Krause catalog, and you will find that most people think those prices are inaccurate as well. NO price guide is ever really accurate. Best guide is RECENT action results. No recent results? Then everything is a guess.

One of our members, JDMern is a major seller on ebay. I'm sure if he sees this he could weigh in and provide some insight.

I agree with Conder101 - prices realized on recent auctions are your best gauge for value.

Also recent sold values on ebay will help.
