I searched a large number of cents in college station, tx from 2011 to 2017. Below are the numbers of 1982 Lincoln cents divided by variety.

Out of 1917 total 1982 cents found:
LgCu 365 (19%)
SmCu 22 (1%)
LgZn 196 (10%)
SmZn 17 (<1%)
D-LgCu 1237 (65%)
D-LgZn 27 (1%)
D-SmZn 52 (3%)
S Prf 1

I just searched 2 boxes in Hampton Roads, VA. 112 total 1982 cents:
LgCu 84 (75%)
SmCu 5 (4%)
LgZn 8 (7%)
SmZn 1 (<1%)
D-LgCu 12 (11%)
D-LgZn 1 (<1%)
D-SmZn 1 (<1%)

Amazing what a difference search location can make despite these being out there for more than 30 years!

In my area (The DMV) we see a 1982 every few rolls. I'm lucky to find a 1982 ZN SD in a box, Denver or not. For whatever reason they don't come up. Plenty of copper 82's and no zincs. Wonder why?

Thanks for sharing! It substantiates my contention that the 1982 SDC was produced in the lowest mintages.
