I'm thinking on this one. I believe this to be whizzed and cleaned, although if so some time ago. The strike and reverse fields, however, lead me to believe this is a proof coin. If you've seen and read past posts I sometimes buy them based on appearance. The one in question is no different. Thoughts?

Agree it's probably been cleaned, but seller does not offer close-ups, and I think it's quite a stretch to rate this as a proof. I'd start by asking for larger images.

As a strong proponent of originality, I do not like this piece.....it has no skin left on it. Pass.

Obverse looks polished, as others have said. For that money, I'd wait for something unaltered.

If it was a proof, it has been circulated quite a bit judging by the upper reverse weakness. I think it's a cleaned business strike. Pass.

If it was a bit cheaper I'd buy it.

The extreme detail of the head and reverse leaves are why I think, again think, this could be a circulated proof strike. Although I'm basing this on a photograph, it does appear to have a slight bit of frost to the design elements. Then again, whizzed in the distant past? As for passing on it, I believe I will since I've come across those graded as such for not much above his open.
None the less I don't feel it's a bad coin, just a bit higher than I'd pay. So thanks all for the confirmation as to what I had been thinking.

This is not a proof. It is a cleaned AU business strike.
