They are called Die Chips and on the head, a Retained Interior Die Break. Cuds only involve the rim and some parts of the fields. coop Bedrock of the Community United States 62064 Posts	Posted 05/02/2019 12:30 am Die chips when there are several on one coin, is usually an issue with the tempering process. Done incorrectly the die can be too soft, normal or brittle. Brittle dies will have chips. Report this Post to the Staff
