I picked up a nice stack of silver certificates
yesterday. I spent more than I wanted to, but
isn't that always the case?

2 Funny-backs, 28 and 28A
4 Stars, 35C, 35E, 35F, 57A
2 Silver ones, 35G, 57B
1 Silver five, 34A

Then as part of the deal, I got some CU Fed notes.
10 Twos, 76 and 95
1 Ten, 95

The early stuff looks pretty good.
Anyone notice any series that might be desirable?
The newer stuff I guess is just crisp window dressing.
Not really what I was after, but was part of the deal.

I figure I did the best on the star notes...
I paid 4 bux each for those.
The other group only went for 27 bux over face.
The large number of late notes helped me there.

The images are too small for me to make out the serial numbers so I can't really tell if there's anything good. The notes look nice though, thanks for sharing!!

Yeah, I know which ones are star notes, but that is
about it. So the "series" doesn't mean as much as
knowing the entire serial number? I thought that
some of the dates followed by letters, were more
desirable than others. Like the 57-A, I know is
extremely common, for example.

If you're going to be buying these.....you should go pick up an "Official Black Book" for paper currency !!
These of yours seem in decent shape !......
I bought a "stack" of Silver Certificates a couple of weeks ago too and wished I had the Blackbook "before" I bought them.........didn't get hurt too bad, but now I'm armed first !

Well, I got the notes.
They range from what I would call 'good' to 'CU'.
Most all were circulated. A $10 FRN was the only true
CU note. But that is how they were advertised. With
the abundance of notes in the group, I really didn't
give much when you take out face value.

The ones I think were the best deals are the 4 star notes.
There is a 35-E with a neat serial. Had to do a double
take on it. Attached pics of the stars. I guess if one had
to be a lower grade on these, I am glad it is the 57. It
is one of the most circulated in the whole lot.

As always, gotta love the funnybacks. I got 3 in this lot.
The 28 and 28-A are a nice VF IMO, but the 34 has got to
be XF, maybe even AU, but there is a very small
dark spot that I think might hold it back.

I like those old silver certs!
It reminds me of a time before we attempted to straddle traditional currency and new, anti-counterfeiting measures.
