I grok the missed overprint $1, but don't see anything significant about the others. Care to fill me in?

biggfredd, All notes are old style bills. Some of them are older dates. The $1 bill on the bottom is missing a serial number and seal (the green inked stuff).

Do yourself a favor. Spend those notes (except for the $1, which is a nice piece) on an old $500 or $1000 note, preferably new condition. None of them are worth a premium today in that condition, and it is unlikely they'll be worth a premium 100 years from now. So all you're accomplishing is tying up money that you could put into something nice that could appreciate. OTOH, the large denomination notes are already difficult to find, and have been actively removed from circulation for over 50 years. There was a hoard found in a bank in 1999 when they did their Y2K preparedness, so they are relatively cheap, but they're sure to get more valuable with time. And they're not only old style, but have different pictures! Here's a pretty one, it will be interesting to see what it brings: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...320292576964A decent quality note, higher priced than I care for: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...140262103187A slobbed $500: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...110282770001From a store that deals in them: http://stores.ebay.com/highdenomination

Bigfredd No offense here but I collect what I like Not what others think I should collect! The reason I held on to them is because I like them! If I didnt like them I would spend them. It doesn't matter to me if it is worth 100 dollars in the year 3000. I like it so I keep it. These are all circulation finds. The only three of them were handed down and thats the 1963 1 dollar 1928a 50 and the 1966 Us NOte.

Yeah, I kinda suspected my unasked for advice would be taken that way.
It's just that given the choice between two items that meet my collecting standards (I like the old small head designs), I'd collect the one that's likely to appreciate as well as be enjoyed.
Personally, I prefer the old large size notes.
Take care, and as someone else said, the important thing is to enojy what you collect. When people have asked me what they should collect, that's always the first thing I tell them.

Like I said though. These are circulation finds thats why I kept them. I dont like to pay a premium for paper currency b/c you never know what it is going to do! Unlike silver gold ect... it will always have that metal content. If I were to spend them it would go to buying something like some silver ounces or something like that

Believe it or not, you can sometimes get $500 or $1000. Put the word out to your banks that you will be happy to authenticate any that are brought in.

I like red seal 100s. I have had so many pass through my hands in the past, and thought nothing of it. I'd like to see one more in circulation just so I could grab it up...
Great stuff. Thanks for the pics. Circulated bills are fun for the 'price' and the 'character' they have.

Thanks for your input ratio 411 I just hold on to them for fun. My favorite design for the more modern but not new bills is the design of the 50. For some reason I just love that bill. Just dont see that many 50s as I do 100s

For an interesting collection, put together a set of "bad ink" notes from all the FRB.
Every now and then, there's a batch of bad black ink. It doesn't stick to the note. If you fold such a note and then roll it against itself, the ink will fall off like powder. The green stays sharp, making an interesting contrast.
They're easy to spot once you realize what to look for.

daviscfad, I collect the small head notes I find in circulation as well. I like them better than the new large designs. Keep what interests you.
