Guess it could have been under the exonumia section but figured I would place it here as there are more views:

Anyone here knows when it was struck? I'm guessing somewhere around the 70s.

That's a beautiful medal. I wish I knew more about these medals commemorating Australian currencies.

G'day, good-looking medallion.
Haven't seen one like it before.
Can't find it in Renniks 2007, but it's not "money", so that's not surprizing.
Clues are:
inclusion of 12-sided 50-cent, introduced in 1969;
inclusion of 1-cent & 2-cent coins, last minted 1991;
inclusion of MACHIN portrait of H.M., used upto 1984;
non-inclusion of $1 & $2 coins, introduced in 1984 & 1988 respectively.
And, it seems, that the legend around the portrait doesn't include the date where we might expect it.
Based on the above, I'd say that this interesting piece was most likely designed between 1969 & 1983.

I wonder if it was a presentation piece; or perhaps a souvenir for sale at the R. A. Mint ?
