Hello everyone first time posting and new here. I have found a 1998 Memorial cent that appears to be unplated ? and it's also larger than a typical penny. It weighs 2.5g ,and the rim protrudes high and has a little warp in the coin but it's not damaged any help would be greatly appreciated I cant seem to find anything online about it..... hope the pics are good enough I took a pic of the penny under another penny and side by side for size comparison...I'm having trouble downloading pics

to CCF. Your coin seems to be post strike damage, not a mint error. The copper plating has been "stripped" somehow.

When they are stretched, the plating falls off. An altered coin.

This is how to remove the copper plating, and then hammer it between two pieces of leather to stretch the coin out bigger.

There, now the secret is out of the bag.

PS don't try this at home, seriously the vapors can kill you.
