Hi Gang,

So...this coin with this folded 9 seems to be an error to me. Why? Because there isn't any other damage in the fields around it nor are any other numbers damaged.

Hate to tell you, keep looking,it's just a well placed hit. You can tell by the way the metal is pushed up from the lower right of the tail of the 9..PMD..

Thanks
So you mean a hit from creating the coin or a hit from an after creation?

A hit from after it was minted.

Just pushed over and flattened metal on the date. It's Post Strike Damage ( PSD), not an error coin.

Right - something random that happened during circulation, nothing deliberate.

Question about the "DROPPED E" in WE on the Obverse. I've seen this a lot on the Penny but have never heard of this being an error in which it absolutely looks that way. What's the history of this scenario.

I don't see the "Dropped E" anywhere.

I think the OP is referring to the "E" in WE. It looks to me like the E is where it is supposed to be but the W is moving toward the rim, similar to the way the L has done in LIBERTY. If I remember my lesson on die aging correctly, I think this sort of metal flow is normal as the die moves into its later stages: devices are flowing away from the center.
