Why are some 1983 dates so much thinner than others? In the 83 cent, I've seen paper thin, medium, and thick dates. ?

Could be from an over polished Die. What does the rest of the obverse look like?

Looks like it's been underground or in water, but that should alter the thickness of the date/lettering...would it?
