If it was in a Salzburger Bank flip, I'd be more inclined to think that it was minted in Vienna, as it's likely the coin would have been sold over the counter by a branch of this bank in Austria for a small premium over the bullion value. My parents got me a 1780 restrike Thaler from a high street bank in Austria for my birthday on a summer holiday in 1970. In the 1990s you could still often see them displayed in Austrian banks. But I have to admit the picture is a bit blurry, so I could be wrong. If it is 1-3-1, yes then most likely a Vienna strike. Report this Post to the Staff
