This book seems to be very expensive and quite elusive. I was wondering if it has ever been offered on a CD to be able to view on a computer? I sure would like to get lost in this book for a few weeks!

It is expensive and elusive because it has been out of print for a number of years. I doubt you will ever see it in a CD version, I would would be ecstatic with just a new print version. Of course, the author is now dead and was a bit of a seedy character and the book does contain quite a few inaccuracies but it is still a good comprehensive reference book but because of those issues, even a reprinting is probably not possible.

It is an amazing book. Just be careful as there are a number of "facts" that aren't exactly true. You'll run into these as you really begin to study and undertand a particular coin or series.

I bought my book for about $60 (brand new) on ebay a few years ago. I understand that you can still find deals on this book there. You just have to be patient. My library actually bought a brand new copy of this book, at my request, right before I found mine.

Wwhitman I am on my way to colorado! Maybe I will bring some junk silver to barter with for the book. Well if the powers that be are reading this, can you please make a reprint of this book and also make it available on cd? Thanks I appreciate it!

This is an exceptionally hard book to find. I would buy a copy if you find it no matter what the cost.

I have seen a few copies for sale but they are in the 200-300$ range. That seems a little high for me. I look in all the used book stores around town with the hope of finding one.

I bought a copy several years ago on ebay.
There is a first edition copy in the September 2008 auction catalog (in pdf format)
at numislit.com with a presale estimate of $175 (lot #3).

Wow, I had no idea they were going for that much now. I got one as a Christmas gift about 3 or 4 years ago, after asking for it specifically for a few years.

The Breen book is a wealth of knowledge, but at the same time also riddled with errors. It's indispensable, but at the same time it's content should be taken with a grain of salt until the reader can investigate the "facts" presented.
