Awesome find! I believe this was caused by a well placed Die Gouge.

Errers and Varietys,
I remember seeing some straight long feeder finger but can not think of any die gouges that are straight. hmmm

From Strike It Rich: "Look for: A strong gouge directly through the Buffalo abdomen." "This Nickel sports an interesting "die dent" through the Buffalo's back and abdomen."
EDIT: I guess a gouge caused by feeder finger?

It could just be a die scratch. A die gouge would be a lot larger. Another case of give it a name and people will collect them. (not me though) I'm a variety collector.
