It's clearly been damaged after it left the U.S. Mint. Post Strike Damage ( PSD).

The answer is correct. But what do we see that helps us determine this? Note the rims and edges of the coin? Note how the metal is pushed on both edges of the coin damage? (First clue) Note the trench? Note how the lines are multiple and pushing is a North to South direction. (Second clue) If this were a struck through you would be a start and end area on the coin. This continues like a damage all the way though the entire coin North to south. (Third clue) Other areas are also affected. Not a premium coin because of these clues of damage.
