From the photos, it looks nearly perfect so I'll say 68/69

I will say MS-66, possibly + and/or CAC. Lovely coin!

Quote: I would have guessed higher grade. Yeah, me too. I thought I was being conservative with 66, but I guess the rubs knock it down? It's a strong 65, if that's the case.

IMHO this coin is better than a typical MS65 of the Oregon Trail series.
I would have guessed MS66 at a minimum. Regardless - it's a lovely example of this very popular classic silver commemorative.

Ages ago I learned that this coin is often depicted with the Native American on the OBVERSE and the wagon on the REVERSE. Using the rule that the side with the date is the obverse, this would be incorrect. . My Red Book lists the photos as such. Was I misinformed? NICE coin.

Quote: Using the rule that the side with the date is the obverse, this would be incorrect. If that's a rule, then all of the state/territory/ATB quarters are backwards. Also, TPGs don't always put the obverse forward in the slab, depending on the coin type and/or submitter's request. From NGC: Quote: The obverse (actually considered the reverse by the Frasers and most collectors) depicts a Conestoga wagon drawn by oxen heading into a setting sun. IN GOD WE TRUST arcs above the wagon, and below are ORGEON TRAIL MEMORIAL and the date. The reverse depicts a strikingly rendered Indian with bow in hand, standing with an outstretched arm in front of a map of the country. Around the Indian is the inscription UNITED STATES OF AMERICA and HALF DOLLAR is found below.
So, the designers and most collectors agree with how it is normally depicted.
