https://www.ebay.com/itm/283497474939Need one of these for my type set, and ... real or fake? Comparing this to real ones online, some of the details just don't seem to line up. Also, sure is odd to package this rare dollar up w/ those junk cents, I guess "adds credibility" in a way. [sigh]

MANY of the details do not seem right but, then, I am far from being an authority on the subject.
And the photograph, having a double image, sure does not help!

I'd take a chance on it for the right price(watching only), being that it is plugged.

I have my doubts. Mainly b/c if that dollar was real it would be worth north of 5k at the minimum.

It is a fake. The rev IS based on the rev die used for 1796 B-1,2,and 3 (it does NOT match the rev used on B-4, 5, or 6). On B-1 and B-3 the Highest wave of hair is to the RIGHT of the upright of the R in LIBERTY. On B-2 it is centered below the upright. On the ebay coin it is well LEFT of the upright. None of the 1796 obverses have the hair wave left of the upright.

Seller surrounded his fake 1796 off-center bust dollar with other 'real' cheap cull coins to deflect attention away from the counterfeit. His 1796 is a cheap Chinese counterfeit that used the 1795 off-center obverse and changed the date to 1796......the counterfeiter was unaware that the bust was centered by 1796.
