I'm pretty sure this is genuine as straight clips show a bit less design flow then regular (or eliptical) clips do.

Looks altered. Note the metal hanging over the rim? It appears to be PSD. (Post-Strike-Damage)

The obverse shows damage from the hit/intentional damage that caused this. At least it's a wheat found CRH!

Thanks for the info all! I hadn't ruled out the possibility. Oh well I did find a 1998 WAM so it makes up for it.
