It looks like there is some type of gunk on the coin. It may have been covered in glue at some point from the looks of it.

PSD, not an error coin. Spendable.

It looks like both sides have been coated in lacquer or something similar. That may create the illusion that devices are incuse. An acetone bath may remove that, but it's probably not worth the trouble to find out.

Note the rims are showing a lot of contact marks. That is the first thing I noticed. PSD. It wasn't struck like that.

Sorry jcoins23, but your dealer is wrong and full of it. It's not an error coin as stated on this thread.
Errers and Varietys.

? 2.5 is normal for a zincer, looks like a early stage of a Dryer Coin and the zinc is breaking down under the plating causinf it to fall, surface is just not showing the signs of zinc rot yet. As far as your local coin dealer, maybe he's setting you up of a purchase of a "rare" error coin in the future...IMO of course..also to CCF, keeping asking any questions you have about any coins....good luck

It's just a Dryer Coin, but it's a good example of one.
ANA ID: 3203813 - CONECA ID: N-5637 Clean a coin that may be worth collecting? Please DON'T! When in doubt, leave it dirty!!

I agree. Not one that spent a long time in a dryer, just a little time.
