I know about Topic Superscription's.

For example, if I'm interested in everything and anything related to Mercury dimes. The question is, how can I be notified if someone started a thread about Mercury dimes two minutes ago? If I'm not constantly monitoring the forum, searching or looking for Mercury dime related info, I'll miss it.

The same way a Topic Superscription pops up in your e-mail, which notifies you there has been activity on that thread.

I'd like to see something similar. Say, when a new thread pops up with a key word "Mercury", it's automatically sent to me.

Maybe the forum already has this function or feature, and I'm just missing it.

Do you see what I'm getting at here?

There a reason you don't see this on forums. It will bring busy forums to their knees. Way too back end intensive.

It would be fine at first.... then a year from now when hundreds of members have it set to trigger on multiple keywords the backend work needed just to post a topic would be horrendous.

There are 2 things that are head and shoulders above anything else in slowing down any website. Database searches and sending emails. This would have to do both. For hundreds of people and maybe thousands of keywords every single time a topic is posted.
