I came across this coin in my change today and it stood out with its highlights being silver and shiny compared to a dull color for the usual look for its year. It weighs 2.8 grams but doesn't seem to be magnetic. I only say that because I didn't have a descent one handy. I have it pictured to the right of a coin of the same year and try to match it up with a coin that was similar in wear for the year. It will be on the right in each image....

Copper is particularly prone to taking on unusual colors in different environmental conditions.

After you've seen a million coins, then start to see something events happening to coins over and over. If a coin is a collectable, it is usually an event that happened during the striking and not after the striking. The better the coin is in the original condition, the more the demand. When they have been altered by coin like, the value drops quickly. (circulation events are not a plus for a coin)
