I just think it's toned naturally - copper can take on all kinds of colors as it oxidizes.

Here's my 41' LWC, but it's a proof so I'm cheating. Yours has nice redish toning that could be indicitive of a slight woodie.

It's natural toning that caused your Wheat cent to look so beautiful. Nice toning!

Jim, I would definitely keep that one in a 2x2, because of it being in such great shape.

Nothing like an old cent/penny with a mint state luster....

To get the best pic of a toned coin , lighting is everything. Try a single light source close to your lens , then tilt the coin towards the light till the coin pops. Here is one of my toned coins . One pair of shots is just average lighting, the other pair was shot to make the colors pop !

Main problem here is the "sneezing" carbon spots, which just kills this coin.

It's a shame for sure.

I think Verdi-Care could greatly improve this coin, with the spots.

I'd leave it alone. When you doctor a coin, it doesn't always help the coin. This one is one I would leave alone. If they are carbon spots, they won't come off. If they are sneeze droplets, they won't come off. So the best thing to do is to do nothing.
