I do think that it is a DDO, see pics. I posted it for grading before, some thought it was cleaned, and I do question the color, but not this new thing I noticed LOL!

It is really hard to tell, I honestly can't say, and the pictures aren't the best quality either.

It looks like it could be, but you'd need to provide photos with better focus.

I am going to going to go out on a limb and say yes but it is hard to tell which one with the pictures. To figure out which variety, we will need a full close up image of the ribbon, a close up image of the date including the ball, a full image of the reverse, close of up of the D on the reverse and a close up of United with the stem in the picture. Those will contain the die markers to help narrow it down. All images need to be clear without the harsh lighting.

As for value add, I will let those wiser that I chime in.

Cheers!

Yes it is either the DDO-002 or DDO-003, I see you posted it before in grading forum, so I went there to confirm the reverse, it does have the partial serif on the "D" in UNITED. It also appears to have the die scratch from the top of ST of TRUST to the right arrow tip and on to rim. The coin has some scratches on the obverse and appears to have been cleaned, but you say you paid AU money for it, I assume without paying any premium for the DDO, a good buy then, I think the coin is AU details-cleaned/scratched. This die was first struck with an old 1869 style obverse hub, then struck with a modified 1870 obverse hub, it looks good for the DDO class III design hub doubling.

Very nice cherrypick as this is one of the tougher DDO coins to find. As others have said we need much better full obverse and reverse photos to see which DDO it is. I'm leaning towards DDO-002. CoinsKelly has stated where we need close up photos, though I don't need to see the partial D now that I found the photos in the grading forum, to say it does have the partial D. Close up sharp photos of the date would also help there is a bit of RPD on the DDO-002 in the the top of the 1, and the outside lower loop of the 8.

wow, thanks everyone, I didn't think this thread would get a response at all! I will try to take much better pictures, but my gear is only a S9+ cell phone and a lower quality celestron USB microscope, so a bit challenging.
The two coin shops I showed it to do agree it had been cleaned, and I tend to think somebody dipped the brown off to show off more of the luster, but now it has obviously questionable color.

When shooting with a cell phone try and stabilize ti on something rather than hand holding it. You can rest the coin on a 2x2 box turned on end or a stack of books, the trick is enough lighting and not letting the camera move at all when you take the photo to stop the blurriness.
