Thanks for the link, Basil, now I remember the article!. I couldn't remember where the FBL stopped and the CBL started. Anyhow, in terms of fakes based on that possibility, that theory is now de-bunked!

sel_69l i actually see the same thing as well this strange UNC polish appearance on pennies that aren't even rare dated they also are under weight, my guess is either there as you say the fake Chinese tokens or possible someone has cleaned them (with harsh acid) and then buffed them so that they are used as tokens/tags/birthday gifts, loads of work for a penny tho >.<. I found them in a second hand antique store, thought about buying one or two just so that I could examine the pieces, but past as they still want 1 dollar for each penny.

The common Pennies at a dollar each is a bit much. Perversely the fake coins at a dollar each isn't a bad buy, but ONLY if you wish to keep them, for your own education on how to pick fake coins.
I said the '25 Penny has a good patina, but in light of my opinion that many others may be fake, perhaps the '25 is also. Needs a professional to look it it closely and and give an honest opinion. If you are unable to do that, then give them all a miss.
You risk the possibility that the '25 maybe the 'one that got away', but on the other hand, if you walk away, there is no possibility that you will be lumbered with an expensive fake.
