hello. I have a 1958 DDO cent that I recently discovered. I am a PCGS member and wanted to submit however it still has some verdigras on the surface. with the value of the coin I didn't know if it would be wise to try and clean or get cleaned or if it is proper to have encapsulated with some still on the surface. any thoughts? thanks |

Sometimes best to leave them alone. If they are not a $100+ coin, it is not worth grading. Depending on what you have. If it iw a die variety, and is the Big DDO, It would be worth submitting it. But if it is not, then probably not worth submitting. If it was a high value coin, I would never do anything to alter the coin. The value can be totally ruined if an undesirable attempt was Done to the coin. |

Closeups are needed of IN GOD WE TRUST, LIBERTY and Date. But if you want a quick answer from the pic you just posted it appears to be just a well circulated 1958 P cent.

Not a Doubled Die. Just a very well circulated and beat up Lincoln Wheat cent. Definitely not worth getting it graded by a TPG. Save your money. Errers and Varietys.

Wow , good thing you provided a photo and didn't procced to send it in . I'm not saying it's not a DD/O But that coin is toast NOT verdigris . A virtual cull .  |

Corroded, damaged, and if it is a DDO it is NOT the wildly expensive one. So even if it IS a DDO chances are that hafter slabbing it would not be worth what it cost to have it put into the holder. |
