Found this going through a relatives old coins. I saw the detail on the hair and pulled it out. I'm thinking XF-45 to AU-50, but that's if there wasn't a scratch on the cheek. (Maybe a details grade?) I'm not a grader either so don't take my word for it. Sorry about image quality, as I don't have my good camera set up where I am now. Thanks!

Thanks GC! As an inexperienced grader, what is NET?

I'm leaning more towards XF40 ..... but I am by no means a professional.

Thanks! I was leaning towards at least XF as well, but I'm no expert in grading either.

It would be XF Details (possibly) so I'm Net or rounding down

I thought it would get a Details designation! Thanks for the confirmation.

xf45 details scratched. the placement of the scratches in the cheek, a central focal point in the obverse hurts it. it is a nice coin with a lot of detail. while common, it is still a one year type coin.

Looks AU50 details to me. Take a wooden toothpick and pop off the grease around the stars and date. If the dark spots are hard and crusty it's corrosion but I bet it will come right off. I love original Liberty 5¢ like these and am putting an xf/au set together. just need a 12-s and 86'!

Thanks everyone! bandsdean, I would love to have a 12-S and a '86 as well but then I would have no money to buy other coins! Best of luck with your set! :p
