to CCF...can't tell enough about the L with photo provided...My guess would be just damage..worth 25c. Best of luck with future finds

To CCF! I am not seeing an extra L. I only see a normal Washington quarter with heavy circulation wear and tear.

A little to the right of the "4". It looks like it's part of a larger "blob". The blob is generally dark with a lighter colored part tantalizingly roughly in the shape of an L.
