So, I was browsing around ebay and saw this coin and saw that there was something going on with the mintmark. I was thinking that it was 1951 D RPM-004 on VarietyVista, but I was not sure. I knew it was some sort of mintmark punching error and was almost certain in my mind that it was a repunched mintmark. Boy, was I wrong! It actually ended up being the 1951 D/S OMM-002 (which is listed as a RPM on Wexler)! I was soooooo excited to see that and it is technically my first over mintmark, even if highly contested. It's a slight shame that there are fingerprints on the coin, but it is like it is. I took the photos off of my instagram (@thereal_andrewjackson) so that's why the arrows are there. The last photo is the seller's photo that I picked it off of.

Nice find! There's debate over whether this is a OMM or a RPM, personally I'm in the RPM camp.

Didn't anyone do an overlay to prove this one way or the other?

I'm leaning towards an OMM for a couple of reasons.
First, the bottom serif on the secondary MM doesn't have the elongated and pointed tip for such a strong strike.
Second, it seems like the east end of the secondary should extend eastward past the primary MM before turning up if it was a second D.
Words of encouragement are one of the major food groups.
We need to consume them regularly to thrive and grow.

I paid $5 for the coin. I am on the fence as far as OMM/RPM is concerned, but it's something either way!

I do believe it is a D/S and not an RPM. Nice pick!

This one may get sent to a TPG at some point, but I'm not sure. May not be worth it unless it's in a holiday deal. I will be posting more of my coins soon so look out for those.

The fingerprints will hurt the value for this coin.
