Hi everyone, I have this 1864 L Indian Head cent that appears to have a repunched date. Are my eyes deceiving me, or is it the real thing? The coin has suffered environmental damage, but it still has plenty of nice details. Any information will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I see what may be MD on the 8, but the corrosion is so heavy. I'm also not sure the L is there. I see something, but it doesn't look right.

Thank you foe the reply! Yeah, you are right, the corrosion makes it difficult to make a reasonable determination as to it being a repunched date. It's too bad. Below is a photo of the bust, which points to the cent having an L.

IMO it IS an RPD but the environmental damage is so extensive that you probably couldn't get any premium.

RPD for sure, but these are common on '60s Indians. Just a filler, I'm afraid.

It is FS-2302, Snow-3, which is a very nice RPD. But with this heavy corrosion I doubt there'd be too much value to it.

Sorry I couldn't be of more help. These aren't my specialty by any means and I forgot about the Pointed Bust. That's the beauty of CCF: members will show up to give the best info. Too bad about the corrosion.
