@ACB, this ia an oft-asked question, especially in the early days of CCF. Here are links to some of the previous threads, but it might be worth revisiting this topic:

I believe that I started with Lincoln cents in 1955.
So that means something like 64 years, but there have been gaps.
Rest in Peace

I started in the early 80's, when banks were paying $0.75 for a roll of pennies.

I started collecting coins way, way back. So far back that I remember the first coins being made or so it seams anyway. Actually my first coin was that shinny, Silvery looking penny back in 1943.

I started collecting about 45-ish years ago. Started when my great uncle and my grandpa used to give me the occasional Ike, Kennedy half, or $2 bill. Got more serious in high school, took the required break in college and early married years. Now I'm back again.

I wish.
But I pulled two 1909 and two 1909 VDB cents right out of circulation.
My faded memory has them at XF.

All gone now when I sold off my LWC set.
But at one time I had a complete set including the 1955 DDO (XF) and 1922 No D, Strong Reverse (VF?).
