That's called zinc rot. Not an error coin, just damage. PSD. It happens when the zinc core gets exposed to the air. The air slowly starts to eat away at the zinc. Goes to show how cheaply made the new Zincolns are.

Yes for sure not an RPM or doubled die--just a plating blister as the zinc core starts to deteriorate.

The cause? Split plating. The strike broke through the plating and exposes the zinc planchet to get oxygen. That starts a bad reaction that is the beginning of the end of the coin:

Not a good thing. Very spendable. In time the zinc will all go away and it copper plating shell will remain.
