rlmstamps2012 New Member United States 13 Posts	Posted 06/23/2019 6:26 pm Hello coin folks. I have been on the stamp forum for several years and am starting to look at some older coins. This gold dollar I found in my Grandmothers desk. The desk had been emptied but when I took a closer look I saw what I thought was a small piece of costume jewelry. It was stuck in a small crack in a draw. A pleasant surprise when I was able to free it. I see that there is a tab on top. I read that this could have been used to keep the coins together since they were so small. I do see signs of wear. With no experience with coins I ask for any comments or guidance regarding condition, value and whether ebay would be a good venue to sell this coin? Jaobler Pillar of the Community United States 6384 Posts	Posted 06/23/2019 9:33 pm The "tab" is almost certainly the remnant of a jewelry mount and counts as damage. Since this is a common date it effectively has been reduced to bullion value. Possibly more valuable to you as a keepsake than as a coin. An undamaged, attractive example should be easily available for $200 or so, as mentioned. Report this Post to the Staff
