I'm a silver stacker, I broke my leg a while back, I'll be on crutches for 2 more months then hopefully start walking again. Since I've been doing a lot of sitting around with nothing to do, I bought a box of dimes to look for some silver. I remember seeing what I now know are good coins as I looked through the dates but didn't think anything else thing else of it. I smashed through that box (hardly found any silver) then went and bought 2 boxes of quarters and 2 boxes of Kennedy's. I opened the Kennedys first, (found silver) threw anything that wasn't silver into the box to take back to the bank. That night, YouTube suggested a "rare coin" video to me for some reason and it was about Kennedy's. After I watched it and saw what some of those coins were selling for, I decided against taking them back to the bank and bought a microscope. Since then, I've been bugging everyone on here for about the past month as I look through my coins which are never ending bc I only get more when I take old ones back lol. I still have a lot to learn. There is a lot of knowledge on this page and I appreciate everyone and anyone who comments their opinion on any of my posts. I welcome criticism lol. I can find anything except for a doubled die apparently but it's a numbers game and I'm going through a lot of coins. I watch videos every night about all the types of doubled dies to help identify them so hopefully I'll get this figured out. Everyone here has taught me a lot already and I really appreciate that. I'm sure I'll be around for a while. I've kinda got addicted to looking at coins under my microscope. This is a very cool topic to me and I find all the info about how the entire minting process works very interesting. I guess that's why I'm interested in these coins

The Kennedy halves are a specialty area of mine. You chose a good series to look through. I hope I can help with my compiled sheet of what I look for. This is from many sources online and offline over a number of years.

Here are pics of the straight G vs. flared mentioned above:

Here is a pic of what is not a No FG variety despite it being slabbed. With real No FG varieties, there was not engraving of the FG on the dies - jence no trace of an FG. Ghosted lettering can be found from overpolishing of the dies.:

Slabs such as the above are not difficult to find. So beware if you would ever go to buy one.

Here is a pic of a very ghosted No FG. Study it and you can see the G:

The best way to see these ghosted ones in hand is to tilt it at various angles to the light. Although the above is actually taken from the PCGS website defining it as a No FG (which means they would slab it that way!), it is from an FG containing die!

Earl, you are exactly the person I've been needing to meet! I was starting to get frustrated but you have re-motivated me! Your statistics are priceless and I appreciate you sharing them with me! I am curious about one thing though, every doubled die you found was DDO, were you looking for DDR's also with no luck or just looking for DDO's?

I was looking for primarily anything I don;t personally refer to as a micro DD. If I need a microscope to see it, and I then spend a lot of time having to try to match up miniscule details to determine which recorded variety it is, I lose interest.

I do have quite a few of the 40% DDRs and DDOs which I found in another large set of 40% rolls I once had that was before the spread sheet.

I posted some in this thread awhile ago:

This thread is a great one for seeing many CCF members' error Kennedy halves.

I beleive (everything is packed and ready to move) I have the "least-micro" DDOs and DDRs for all the 40%'ers except the 1966 proof DDO.
