Hello to everyone! I have been on overseas business travel and it is great to be back. I surely do miss everyone.

I wanted to start my return by submitting my first PCGS submission, but afraid to getting egg on my face, I wanted to review the specs as I understand them for a successful submission.

Preferred Specs:
1) 1982 Penny
2) Weight = 3.1 grams
3) Short vs Long Date : Short date will have what I refer to as a "Pot Belly Font" for the number 2 in the date (refer to attached illustration).

As always, your feedback is invaluable to me.

Regards,

Ben,

Neither of these are worth submitting. The Small date Denver, is one the only one that would be worth submitting.

The other 7 year varieties that year are common.

Thanks Coop! I think I also have the D version but not in very good shape. I'll try to take a pic tonight and share with the group. Hang tight.

No, it must be the 1982-D small date to be the rare valuable one. 1982 cents with no mintmark were made in Philadelphia, and they are common in zinc and copper versions, as well as small and large date. Your coin appears to be a Philly copper cent, and is quite common.

There are two versions of of the 1982 D small date,(pot belly) one made of copper plated zinc which weighs 2.5 gms, the other 1982 D small date weighs 3.1 grams. If you have the 1982 D small date copper cent that weighs 3.1 grams then you have something. If it weighs 2.5 grams, spend it.
