Any thought on if this is an ancient fouree? There is exposed bronze and the weight is very low. I would think a modern cast would be actual silver and this is just a heavy plate on bronze apparently:

I don't think I would pay "melt" for it
It looks like a casting made with recycled "buttons"
In casting the sprue has a conical shaped opening atop where molten metal is poured
The purpose is to have a reservoir where the metal contracts and slag and excess flux floats to the top
leaving a clean cast
Buttons can be recycled but fresh clean metal must dominate
Dirty silver gives you a "dirty" cast
This looks like dirty metal to me
