I'm a female living in Colorado I attend storage auctions and happen to find a bunch of jelery in a unit but one item appears to be a gold 1855 $3 princess/I didn't head that's placed into a very heavy gold necklace frame and chain in 14k gold that doesn't harm the coin itsself. I am trying to find out if it is counterfeit or the real deal so I k ow how much it's worth and what I should be getting g to not get ripped off! Ha I love to learn all about new things GS as well I'm 38 and have been reading up alot I k ow it's still either way worth the 25k weight as the gold part is real and not counterfeit. :) Any help in determining if it a fake or in pointing g to where I could go to make a safe sale :)

If real (and not damaged), that coin would be worth significantly more than melt value. Here is a link to some auction prices for authenticated coins.

If you post good pictures, the weight and diameter, experts here should be able to give you good advice.
Rest in Peace
