Okay people. We have a coin between 1901 and 1949 inclusive.
It was minted for circulation in a colony. That implies an empire.
Empires extant during that time frame are:
French
British
Portuguese
Pahlavi
Dutch
Spanish
Ethiopian
Belgium
German
Italian
Ottoman
Austria-Hungarian
Russian
Plus some lesser known (in the West) empires in Asia and Africa.

The United States had colonies then and in my opinion, colonial power is a more refining term than empire, and it is a colonial power

I'm inclined to think the clue was the word "Royal" and that it is a British coin, second guess would be France, from the way tdz answered the question about the Queen though, I think it has to be British.

No. This is not a coin of a French colony.
(I was trying to steer y'all away from this by reminding that France was no longer a monarchy by 1900).
