I guess that leaves @tdz to ask the rest of the questions

I'm sorry that you feel that way. It isn't sometimes fun to learn about areas of numismatics outside of your specialty?

I have no reference. But what the hay. Was this coin minted before 1100AD?

On a side note Is there a good catalog You would suggest? I'm willing to learn

Is it really a challenge if you know all about the coin already?

Was this coin minted west of the Ural mountains?

5. This coin was made west of the Ural Mountains. I believe that this eliminates Asia and Oceania.

A good (and free) lurking place is just over here:

Also, http://www.numista.com is not just a good place to find examples of modern coins.

That was the intent, the urals are where the European and Asian collide.

Btw, tangential question, could a cowrie shell be considered a coin for the purposes of this game?

IMHO, I don't think so. Cowrie shells were likely used as money, but were not coins. Coins seem to be a subset of money. It has been a little since @redifin last checked in to this game that he/she created, but that original post seems to focus on coins.

That could be true, they are often refered to as shell money, but sometimes they were shaped and the strings of shells looks awefully similar to strings of coins
