Perfect Error Valued Member United States 477 Posts	Posted 07/09/2019 6:14 pm Appears to be a Struck Through Half Metal Disc or Metal Clip? The Struck Through runs from the edge at the Rim at "IN" under Liberty through Lincolns Vest then bends up through his chin and traveled to the Rim. Any thoughts? Thanks. Spence Moderator United States 34424 Posts	Posted 07/09/2019 7:39 pm @PE, my first thought was fire damage, but I do see that on Abe's right shoulder and up through LIBERTY, the copper plating is lifting up from the coin's surface. It can't be struck through and damage seems to be the simplest explanation. Perhaps whatever was resting on this coin was hot enough to slightly melt into the zinc (i.e. more than 800 degrees F or so). I never thought about the heat being transfered to that degree which could cause this to happen. Thanks again. I will keep it as an example of this heat condition. Report this Post to the Staff
