Opinions: Is This An Error Or PMD - Coin Community Forum

sfitzernator Valued Member Australia 271 Posts	Posted 07/10/2019 07:51 am The Chip or Cud look at the coin is evident because all the metal is still there. It's just been moved in another direction and popped up elsewhere, which might look like a Cud. Personally, when I evaluate a coin for a die chip or Die Cud, I look immediately in the adjacent area for PMD, and I ask myself "Am I just seeing a lump of displaced metal". If there is a scratch or a dent close to the " Cud", I dismiss it as PMD, because it is not beyond a reasonable doubt that it is just PMD. A chip or a Cud must look like extra metal (although, it isn't, the planchet is just the tiniest bit thinner, but that is how it looks!). Hope this helps. Report this Post to the Staff
