(Note: I edited the photos after reading posts to correct an important phrase.)

18.5mm, 2.55g. I feel I have seen this before, but I may not have. If you think Greek letters you get LIR etc. Just best if I post this for others to see:

First image is upside down - I'm pretty sure that is just Islamic writing, perhaps the first line of the Kalima, like on this Umayyad dinar

If you rotate the coin 180 degrees AIPIA becomes Arabic la ilah illa "there is no god but", the first line of the Kalima. The following two lines of the Kalima read Allah wahdahu / la sherikh lahu "God alone / there are no others with Him". Most likely an 'Abbassid AE fals minted at al-Kufa in Iraq.

Wow thanks! (I'll fix the photos but leave the text as is from the string as I know it is quit wrong to have that phrase not correctly oriented.)

Just to flesh out the description, the reverse is Muhammad / rassul / Allah / baraka ("Muhammad is the apostle of God, praise"). The blob in the margin at 7h on the reverse is probably the mint name bi'l-Kufa. Coincidentally, the coins of al-Kufa often have the word baraka in the lower reverse. The bad news is that the 'Abbasid coppers of al-Kufa are the most common of all early Islamic coppers and have little monetary value, even in better grades.
