how would you grade this coin? Is it a rather average or a rather good piece of this type?

I agree it would probably grade MS63. It doesn't seem to have much luster in these images.

The 1908 No Motto Saint is one of, if not the, most common date in the series. Basically a bullion coin in MS63 and below.

MS64 is possible on this one I think.

I'm in the MS64 camp as well. better lighting would help.

They will affect mine. Much, much better luster is apparent in the second set of images. This improves the eye appeal and should take it to MS64.

The PCGS photos show the nice luster this coin has. I'm still at MS-64.
