Would appreciate your thoughts and opinions on this 1953 set. Came from a small white box and individually wrapped pliofilm coins, that apparently came directly from the mint, but not a fancy specimen box.

Is there a way to take off the surface rust?

The penny is very much a nice shiny red.

Have had these before . You could purchase these type of "Sets" from the Royal Canadian
Mint from 1949 to 1953 . The packaging was almost identical to US Proof Sets of the day .
Hope you kept the small box and the clear cellophane holders .
Some of the sets had all the coins in cellophane stapled with a single copper or brass
staple . Of the sets I have handled most were mixed sets with Mint State and PL coins.
Nice find!
The rust cannot be removed !
