Hi all. Putting this one in a new 2x2. What grade should I assign? Appreciate everyone's grading opinions and comments. Cheers

Time to revive my old post in light of the other 1873 Newfoundland 50 cent You vs ICCS post recently added.
Just to show and compare ...
I've put VF 30 on the holder. It's better than some VF 20's I've seen but maybe only VF25, if such a grade existed.

I woulda gone 30 as well. Much of what appears wear is the change in color between the field and the design. I'd take it. B

I'm at F-15. There isn't quite enough separation and detail on the top knot twists for me to bump it to VF-20. That said, it would trade well above a straight Fine coin, probably halfway between F and VF. It's a nice example. Tough date above G. My wife saw this one, too, and now she's really giving me the evil eye to help her upgrade her 1873. Help me out, guys. Post some really ugly AG-3's for a while.

Canadian grading standards or US standards? An ICCS grade will be about one step lower than a PCGS/NGC grade.
