I am no expert in cent, but that to me doesn't qualify as Wide AM, plus the rim has damages. If you can post the whole image of both side. |

Several videos I've watched have stated that CAM partners with initials at base of memorial further away, while WAM partners with initials close to base. The snippet of the initials shows them nearly touching base of memorial which hopefully supports WAM. Looks like there is doubling on the A that narrows gap. Guess I could be reaching. |

Sry for delay getting full pics uploaded. Guess work comes first at least till I can tell CAM from WAM.......Ma'am...... I'm confused about how wide is wide enough and how narrow is narrow or how the memorial base initials nearly toughing base isn't supportive of WAM. Does that mean that CAM isn't partnered with initials further away from base as some teaching videos suggestive. Pls know this isn't arguing or begging for agreement. It is fully an effort to understand. As an engineer I sometimes find myself developing conclusion then finding evidence to support my obvious rightness.....lol Any edumatacian er presitadered Thx W One last thing I've Noticed is that the mint mark shows actually 3 times at different angles. Obvious one Second is subtle D to left and slightly up and behind first (D/D) Third you may not be able to see is faint and crosses the leg on the 9 in date at about 45 degree angle to original mint mark. Third upload is best angle I could get close up of the MMs    |

I was under the impression that WAMs only applied to Philadelphis minted cents. Is this not correct?

Yes, in 1998 WAM has not been found on D mintmark coins and trust me, I spent a good few years thinking there would be examples of WAM on D mintmarks for 1998-1999-2000 and searched a lot of those Ds for that decade hoping to find one that never happened. It's not so much "centered" as it is evenly spaced "A M E" instead of looking like "AM E" on Close AM there is less space between the A and the M than there is between the M and the E. If it's evenly spaced on both sides of the M it's very likely the Wide AM. Wide AM pretty much needs to have even gaps on both sides of the M between the letters. |

Just a normal close 'AM'. The spacing of the 'M' between the AME is the is the difference. "M" centered is a Wide AM. Off center to the left, Close AM. (Which is normal for this year)   The space between the 'AM' doesn't matter. It is the centering or off center of the 'M' is what the difference is. |
