I'm not 100% sure what it's supposed to look like, but that looks more like it's pushed over than a second image. Is there anything else on any of the other writing?

On second thought, looking at the top of the O, I am more confident it is some variation of MD

MD from the SW direction on the NE sides of the devices. Also keep in mind the die wear shows in the direction towards the closest rim. A lot of the quarter dies show extreme die wear on the motto. Sometimes very convincing:
