Errers and Varietys Bedrock of the Community United States 74444 Posts	Posted 07/29/2019 5:18 pm I found this in a mixed circulated roll, from a bank box of U.S. Pennies. I still got a lot more to go through of course. These types of Struck Through errors seems to be common on the Lincoln Shield cent series, since I got a ton of them in my collection. coop Bedrock of the Community United States 62064 Posts	Posted 07/29/2019 9:16 pm Interesting. Why? First the rim bur broke off the going into the chamber, was struck and fell off the coin. But why is this interesting? Note the bur fell on the top of the coin where the hammer die struck it on to. The coin. Still interesting? Yes it proves that the hammer die is the reverse die. How does this prove that? When the bur was loosened, it remained on the top of the planchet. If it didn't happen that way, then it would have fall away from the strike area.
